BEST NIGHT EVER 20/06/2009
So I guess you can tell that I'm pretty much OVER THE MOON right now-- but let me just step back for a second and tell you a story. There was once this girl who, ever since hearing of a little support band of Busted's who's name was taken from the star of an old classic movie 'Back To The Future' (McFly I think their name was) back in 2003, was in love. She taped every last saturday morning programme with the tiniest of clips with them in it, entered countless competitions to win the shirts off their backs and played and re-played each and every song off their albums (and frankly used a lot of money trying to help them get to number 1 and buying most of their singles in 2004). She knew everything about them: Tom being the serious songwriter (who soon developed into a hunky guy with God-Like hair)..Danny the dreamy-voiced joker, Dougie the youngest lizard-loving shy one who became the craziest of the band and Harry, beyond amazingly talented on drums. But she never got the chance to see them in the flesh...
...until now.
...(did you guess I was talking about me?)

Basically a run-down of the night - Mcfly's support band Vagabond was on first (pretty good actually - AND the hot guitar guy with long hair smiled at me! waheyy) and after they warmed up the crowd with their set, we had to stand again on the grass, all bunched up together to get a good view (due to extremely rare punctuality and manic running, Justine and I managed to get marginally near the front of the stage near Danny!) and wait for another few hundred years for them to come on.
A lot of tissues (I was- superb timing I have to say - bunged up with a cold, dammit), roadies testing the guitars and drums and the crowd singing to pass the time, and THEY WERE ON!!! The whole forest erupted when they did, and all hands, forbidden banners and bras(?) came out. They played amazingly, all hyped songs including Transylvania where Dougie sings (best part was when Dougie introduced the show and said "Who's ready to have a BITCHIN' GOOD TIME?!...that's my new word. Bitchin'." Mine too, mate), Corrupted (I grabbed J's arm and jumped up and down, the chorus kicks on that one), and they even played That Girl (Danny's amazing guitar solo too), POV (epic drumming, always wanted to hear that live) and finished off with...5 Colours in her Hair!
There were also some funny dialogues between songs-- everyone was chucking stuff on stage including round things that I thought were condoms but turned out they were glowsticks that Tom went round sweeping up in the interval :p and they were just as funny and down-to-earth in real life. Someone chucked a sandwich on stage and Tom picked it up and said 'No thanks, I'm not hungry' so of course the crowd chants 'Eat it! Eat it!' and Dougie goes 'Bring back Fat Tom!' aww :) and Danny's so funny, he went off in the middle of a song and the others were looking confused, then suddenly he rose up from the middle of the stage and he told all the audience to give him the cheesiest grins they could. I felt sort of dumb but hey, it's Danny haha :D
All in all, a great evening especially when they did their guitar solos, drenced the crowd in water and threw their towels into the seas of hands. We weren't close enough to catch though, dammit. BUT we almost caught Harry's second drumstick; I'd lost J in the crowds and moment but when they left the stage and the crowd filtered out, we ran back to the stage where the roadies were clearing up the stage, looking for a souvenir. Then the roadie suddenly chucked the drumstick and it landed at this girl's feet. Funnily enough she didn't actually realise it was there till she saw J charging at her, and she snapped it up :p aaaah! close. I couldn't stop talking about the concert after it finished, still can't actually. But it's my first, and my favourite band so hey I'm allowed to get a little excited, right? (;
